Bengali OTT platform hoichoi has been making significant strides in the competitive streaming space. The platform recently reported a 40% year-on-year increase in direct subscriptions and a remarkable 60% rise in individual watch-time per subscriber. Hoichoi's success isn't confined to its home state of West Bengal; it is expanding its reach beyond borders. The platform is currently working on six productions in Bangladesh, aiming to cater to the Bengali-speaking population in the country. This strategic move acknowledges the global appeal of Bengali content and opens up new horizons for hoichoi.

In addition to expanding its footprint in Bangladesh, hoichoi has its sights set on the Bengali diaspora in the Middle East. To achieve this, the platform is partnering with telecom operators and implementing offline marketing strategies. This approach aligns with the platform's ambition to bring quality Bengali content to a broader audience, including those living abroad.

Despite the competitive nature of the OTT space and the challenges it presents, hoichoi's co-founder, Vishnu Mohta, maintains a steadfast commitment to quality. He emphasized that hoichoi does not believe in underpricing its services and is instead focused on building a strong paid customer base. This approach prioritizes sustainability and ensures that the platform can continue to provide high-quality content and services to its users.

Furthermore, Mohta revealed that hoichoi, despite reporting a loss of INR 1.49 crore in FY22, is "marginally profitable." This indicates the platform's ability to navigate the complexities of the OTT industry and its dedication to delivering value to its subscribers.
